scipsy: Cassiopeia A is a supernova remnant (the remains of a massive star exploded about 220 years ago) in the constellation Cassiopeia. It is 11000 light-years away in the Milky Way. The expanding clouds of material has a temperature of around 50 million degrees Fahrenheit, and it expands at 4000-6000 km/s; It is now approximately 10 light-years across.
